About Paws & Reflect

Paws & Reflect was created with intention.

As dog owners ourselves, we wanted to offer a type of care that felt genuinely thoughtful – care that recognised dogs as individuals, respected their emotional wellbeing, and gave them the time and space to simply be dogs. We wanted to build something considered, calm and reliable, where quality of care always comes before quantity.

Paws & Reflect exists because we believe good dog care is as much about observation, patience and understanding as it is about routine. Creating the right environment, making informed decisions, and responding to each dog as an individual all play a central role in how we work.

Why we started Paws & Reflect

In our own search for dog care, we saw how easily dogs can be asked to adapt to environments that don’t truly suit them – livelier environments, rigid schedules, or constant stimulation. While those models work well for some dogs, they can be overwhelming or unsuitable for others.

Our aim was to create an alternative: a small, home-based service where dogs are supported rather than rushed, and where care adapts to the dog, not the other way around. We wanted to provide an environment where dogs could settle, decompress and feel secure, supported by consistent routines and calm handling.

This philosophy runs through everything we do, from how dogs are introduced, to how their days are structured, to how decisions are made when something doesn’t feel quite right. Taking time at the outset helps us build trust, consistency and positive experiences over the long term.

Charlie's background

Charlie runs the home boarding and day care side of Paws & Reflect, focusing on calm routines, consistency and welfare-led care within a home environment. His role centres on day-to-day supervision, maintaining clear routines, and ensuring that each dog’s individual needs are understood and met in a thoughtful, structured way.

Before moving into dog care, Charlie spent over 20 years working in financial services. That career instilled a methodical, detail-focused approach, with a strong emphasis on responsibility, risk awareness and doing things properly. Those same principles now underpin how Paws & Reflect operates day to day, from clear routines and careful supervision to robust standards around safety, record-keeping and welfare.

Charlie has completed an AIM Qualifications Level 3 Award in Canine Care, Behaviour and Welfare, supporting a practical, knowledge-led approach to understanding dogs and their individual needs.

Marla, our Labrador, is very much part of daily life at Paws & Reflect. She helps set the tone for the home, is calm and sociable, and plays an important role in welcoming new dogs and supporting relaxed, positive interactions.

Together, we share a commitment to reflective practice – regularly reviewing how we work, learning from experience, and making adjustments where needed to ensure dogs remain comfortable, settled and well supported.

Beccy's background

Beccy leads the grooming side of Paws & Reflect, combining professional training with a genuinely calm, thoughtful approach to dog care.

She is a fully qualified dog groomer, having completed a Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming with the Upper Hound Dog Grooming Training Academy in Fleet. Her training focused not only on technical skill and breed standards, but also on safe handling, coat health and animal welfare.

Following her professional qualification, Beccy established the grooming salon at home to offer a quiet, low stress setting. This environment is particularly well suited to nervous dogs, puppies, and owners who prefer a more personal and unhurried grooming experience. Appointments are carefully structured so that dogs are not rushed, stacked in crates, or exposed to a busy salon atmosphere.

Before moving into dog grooming, Beccy spent over 25 years working in financial services. That background brings a high level of organisation, professionalism and attention to detail to the business, alongside the warmth and patience that define her work with dogs.

Her aim is simple: to make grooming a calm, positive experience that dogs can return to with confidence.
