General Liability Disclaimer

The salon is not liable for any injury, illness, loss or damage resulting from pre‑existing conditions, behavioural issues, or failure of the owner to disclose relevant health or temperament information. By booking a service, the owner accepts all risks associated with the grooming process.

Appointment Time & Pre-Groom Consultation

We operate on a one-to-one basis; this system can only work if clients bring their dogs and collect their dogs at the specified times. Your appointment slot includes time allocated to a pre-groom consultation, so that there is no need to arrive early to book in.

We groom each dog to the owner's specifications - as far as the dog will tolerate and the coat condition and type allows. We will always place a dog's welfare, safety and peace of mind above adherence to a particular style. In case of being unable for any reason to groom to the exact style wished by the owner, we will contact you and agree upon a suitable alternative.

We endeavor to groom dogs to the specifications discussed in the pre-groom consultation. If you are sending your dog in with a friend or family member, please send written instructions or give us a quick call to confirm your requirements. This eliminates any confusion that may occur when receiving your wishes via a third party. Note that in all cases, the person bringing your dog in must be aged 18 or over.

Collection

Appointment times will be discussed during drop off. We will contact you 20 minutes before your dog is ready for collection (text or call). For any dogs that are not collected on time, a dog sitting fee of £20 per half hour will apply.

If you happen to arrive a few minutes early, your dog may still be on the grooming table being attended to, so please remain out of sight and hearing whilst you wait, as once your dog sees you and naturally starts to get excited, your groomer may have stop the groom for safety reasons.

Client Cancellation

We request a minimum of 48 hours notice if you need to cancel your appointment. If you fail to turn up to your appointment without providing adequate prior notice, we reserve the right to charge a 50% cancellation fee and may request full payment in advance for your next appointment. We understand that emergency situations do arise and will of course take this into consideration. Clients arriving 15 minutes late risk losing their appointment without notice, and if this is the case it will also be subject to the same conditions.

Paws & Reflect Cancellations

Due to staff sickness or emergencies, there may be situations when we need to cancel your appointment. If this occurs, we will contact you with as much notice as possible and do our best to reschedule your appointment with minimal disruption.

Invasive Procedures

There are some procedures which are classified as invasive and we will not offer as part of dog grooming. These must only be undertaken by a vet, as per the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966. This includes Ear Plucking and Anal Gland expression.

Matted Coats

Mats in a dog's coat can grow tight and ultimately result in damage to the animal's skin. In compliance with the Animal Welfare Act 2006, which states that ‘All animals are to be protected from pain, injury, suffering and disease', we will not cause discomfort or undue stress to your dog by attempting to de-mat an excessively-matted coat. Instead, we will at all times advise clipping the dog to remove the matted and damaged coat. If this is the case, we will seek to obtain your explicit permission to clip before we begin the process. However, if we are unable to reach you, we will do what we deem safest for your dog's health and well-being.

If clipping is required, an additional charge of £30 will apply for the extra time, risk and dulling of equipment used to remove the coat.

After-effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, hematomas, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions, and failure of the hair to regrow, If your dog needs to be clipped in the interests of it's own well-being, you acknowledge that you agree to this procedure being carried out and the associated risks, and that any related veterinary care expenses are your full responsibility.

Parasites

If fleas are found on your dog during the grooming process, your pet will be treated with a specialist shampoo to kill the parasites, and you will be charged an additional fee of £20. This will cover the treatment, specialist products, additional time and cleansing of the salon to prevent cross-contamination. Ticks found will be removed.

Alterations

If, after the groom is complete, there is anything about the groom that you would like altered, please advise your groomer accordingly before you leave the salon. We are never offended by timely requests to make minor changes, so please ask. You may contact us up to 48 hours after your appointment to request any minor changes.

Pregnancy

We do not accept pregnant bitches for grooming under any circumstances.

Bitches in Season

We do not accept bitches in season for grooming under any circumstances and will have to contact the owner for collection if we discover that they are in season during the groom. Please note payment may still be required dependant on treatment.

Challenging Behaviour

Some dogs may require a longer appointment time or a split appointment, due to excessively nervous or challenging behaviour. We will advise the owner of any alteration in charges before the groom. If a dog shows behaviour requiring immediate collection, the owner agrees to collect the pet promptly. Charges may still apply for work completed, and future bookings may be declined at the salon’s discretion.

Aggressive Dogs

We reserve the right to halt the grooming process should a dog become aggressive to the point of being a danger to any member of Paws & Reflect or to his or herself. Full or part of the grooming charge may apply. Owners MUST inform Paws & Reflect if your dog bites, has bitten, or is aggressive to people. other pets or specific grooming procedures. Muzzles may be used if necessary. Muzzling will not harm your dog and will not be used for long periods of time, but they do protect both the dog and the groomer. Paws & Reflect will not accept liability if injury is caused by difficult or aggressive behaviour by your dog.

Health & Behaviour Disclosure

Owners must disclose any medical conditions, allergies, injuries, recent surgery, anxiety triggers, or behavioural concerns prior to grooming. The salon is not liable for complications arising from undisclosed information.

Senior Dogs & Pre-existing Conditions

Grooming procedures can sometimes be stressful, especially for a senior dog or a dog with health problems, and can expose hidden medical problems (or aggravate a current one) during or after the groom. Because senior dogs and dogs with health problems have a greater chance of injury, these dogs will be groomed for cleanliness and comfort, in styles that will not add to their stress. In the best interest of your dog, this agreement gives Paws & Reflect the right to refuse to groom your dog if we deem it to be unwell. You also agree for us to obtain immediate veterinary treatment for your dog should we deem it necessary. We will do our best to contact you first, then take your dog to our nearest veterinarian or to our emergency veterinarian. All expenses for veterinary care are the responsibility of the dog's owner. No liability will be accepted by Paws & Reflect for any health problems that are uncovered or aggravated by any part of the grooming process.

Accidents

Grooming equipment is sharp, and there is always the possibility that an accident could occur. Even though we use extreme caution and care in all situations, possible problems could arise including cuts, nicks, scratches, quicking of nails, etc. In most cases this happens when a dog is wiggling or moving around during the grooming process. Every effort will be made to ensure your dog is groomed as safely as possible; however, some dogs may have reactions to grooming products or procedures. In the event of an accident we will contact you immediately to discuss the situation. All expenses for veterinary care are the responsibility of the dog's owner.

Client Interaction

Our groomers work extremely hard, and care for each dog as if they were their own. Any abusive language or behaviour will not be tolerated.

Photographs & Data Use

We take photos of each dog before during and after the groom, which we keep on file to assist us in future grooms. We may use some photos in advertising our service and/ or post to our social media sites. By accepting these Terms, owners consent to secure storage of grooming records and salon photography for service continuity. Owners may opt‑out of public photo use by notifying the salon in writing prior to the appointment.

Data Protection & Privacy

Client personal data and pet records are stored securely and used solely for appointment management, grooming notes, and salon communication. Data is never sold or shared with third parties except where required for emergency veterinary care. Records and photos are retained to support future grooming services.

Ultrasonic Teeth Cleaning

Our teeth cleaning service is just that, a teeth cleaning service. It is suitable for dogs with mild to moderate tartar build up, it can help heal gum disease, freshen breath and reduce tartar. The operator is not a veterinarian, and teeth cleaning is not a substitute for veterinary treatment when a dog requires veterinary dental work beyond cleaning. Owners should be aware that removal of even mild tartar can reveal conditions that could not be seen prior to treatment that may need veterinary attention.

Whilst this method of dental cleaning is highly effective in removing mild tartar, improving gums and mouth health and breath, Paws & Reflect cannot guarantee the treatments effectiveness or suitability for individual dogs due to varying factors such as dogs health, age, diet etc. If we feel any teeth are loose or at risk of becoming loose when the tartar comes off we may request you get your pets teeth checked at your veterinarian before treatment. It is possible that the tartar build up will be too great and then a veterinary dental may be necessary initially and then follow up ultrasonic maintenance visits with us.

Paws & Reflect cannot be held responsible for any problems occurring from poor dentition before, during or after any ultrasonic treatments.

Ultrasonic treatment is not a veterinary procedure and Paws & Reflect cannot diagnose any problems with your dog’s mouth.
